USCIS is experiencing delays in issuing receipts

Posted by Douglas R. Penn | Jan 08, 2021 | 0 Comments

The government is experiencing significant delays in issuing receipt notices for some applications and petitions filed at USCIS lockbox facilities. There may be a delay of four to six weeks between the filing of a case and the issuance of a receipt notice. USCIS will still treat your case as timely filed, even though there will be a significant delay in the issuance of the receipt notice.

We will file a case online with USCIS, when possible, to avoid this delay. Receipts for online filings are issued within a few hours or the next day.
