USCIS is experiencing delays in issuing receipts

The pandemic is causing significant delays in issuing receipt notices for some applications and petitions filed at USCIS lockbox facilities. There may be a delay of four to six weeks between the filing of a case and the issuance of a receipt notice. USCIS will still treat your case as timely filed, even though there will be a significant delay in the issuance of the receipt notice.

Employment-based I-485 (adjustment/green card) cases and student EADs are especially impacted by this delay.
